2025 Open Competitions

Our Open Competitions for 2025 will be available to book from 13th January via the Open Competitions Booking tab on our website.

Catering opens 45 minutes before the first tee time at every Open. Everything is prepared fresh and cooked to order, please allow plenty of time to enjoy our catering before your booked tee time. Our bar and catering accepts cash or card payments over £5.

Buggies available to hire, if in receipt of a medical certificate, please contact the club directly to reserve.

Openplay members will be due a £20 green fee as well as the competition entry fee.

Sunday 6th April

Pair’s competition, with players selecting their own partner!
Both players tee off at each hole and select which ball to play next (not necessary the longest drive) and play alternative shots until the hole is completed.
Handicap allowance: -
60% of the lower course handicap plus 40% of the higher course handicap! If handicaps are the same, it is half of the combined.
Overall Winner: - Team with Best Nett Score

Sunday 20th April

Open Texas Scramble (Team of 4):- Allowance is 25%, 20%, 15%, 10% of playing handicap from low to high handicap. Add together to get team handicap.
Handicap team prizes are 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
Scratch team prize is 1st scratch score overall.
Each player drives off the first tee. The team captain then chooses the best drive and all the players take their ball to this position. They all then hit a shot from there.
The captain again chooses the best second shot. Everyone else takes their ball to that spot and continues until the first player has holed out.

Greensomes
Pair’s competition, with players selecting their own partner! (Over 50s)
Both players tee off at each hole and select which ball to play next (not necessary the longest drive) and play alternative shots until the hole is completed.

Players are awarded points on a hole-by-hole basis according to their nett score on each hole.
Points awarded are as follows: -
Above bogey 0 points
Bogey (1 over Par) 1 point
Par 2 points
Birdie (1 under Par) 3 Points
Eagle (2 under Par) 4 Points
Albatross (3 under Par) 5 Points

To avoid slow play if you are not going to score any points on a particular hole pick up your ball and move onto the next hole.

The winner has the highest points total for the round.

Play and count all strokes, mark on card as Gross Score after 18 holes score total Gross and calculate Nett Score as Gross minus Playing Handicap, for final Handicap Score.

Over 55's

Saturday 5th July

Players must finish each hole and count all strokes. The number of strokes on each
hole is recorded as the Gross Score. The players’ Playing Handicap is then taken from
the Gross Score to provide a Nett Score, the players’ competition score.
